Aging in 21 century:

Adding Years to Life, Adding Life to Years

Hello, I am Misha Kogan, MD.  Welcome to AgeWise approach!

When I was in my early 30s in medical school I chose to go into Geriatrics, the medical field that specializes in care of older adults, especially those who are frail and vulnerable.

While I love this field and can’t think of practicing any other type of medicine I early realized that the main problem of Geriatrics is over-reliance on medical and pharmacological interventions.  Being always inclined towards holistic and integrative medicine I started searching for more gentle, less side effect, integrative solutions for all problems associated with aging.  As part of learning I soon discovered Blue Zones, areas of the world like a Greek island Ikaria, where the residents say that “they forget to age”.  I got so fascinated that not only I have red all studies I could find about Blue Zones but I also visited them to learn first hand how life style produces healthy 100+ year old people and what can we take back to our lives.

Thus AgeWise approach was born, the combination of thousands of years of natural selection of approaches that led to healthy aging in combination with modern, science driven discoveries such as cold and heat exposure, selected nutritional supplements, and others.  As I have formulated and started practicing AgeWise principles I have seen first hand improvement in my health and health of my friends and relatives.  Next I started advocating for AgeWise principles working with my patients and running AgeWise retreats where participants could learn practical approaches to healthy longevity.

As my experience grew as well as first hand results I realized that it is time to share these approaches with more people.  And this is why I created AgeWise.

“Aging is an extraordinary process whereby you become the person you always should have been.”
